Description

From a gig at the legendary Coffee Hag in Mankato, Minnesota in 2003.

8.5″x11″ on some 24 lb. Wausau tan bond paper.

TRIVIA: The guitar and banjo art on this poster were the very first block carvings I ever made. Carved with a snap-blade box cutter into 3/4″ pine board. Of course I forgot to reverse the image when I drew them onto the blocks. An observant eye will notice that the banjo’s fifth-string peg is on the wrong side of the neck. The guitar originally had a pickguard as well, but it being on the wrong side, would have made it a left-handed guitar, and their were no southpaws in The Oxbow Boys. I preferred to remove the pick guard, than have it call attention to my error.

TRIVIA: This wasn’t the first Oxbow Boys poster either. There were ultimately more than one hundred and fifty unique gig posters made during the seven-year run of the band. Most of them looked just like this one, I usually only changed the date and venue and printed it on a different color. Many also had cryptic messages added to them in place of the website address.
